TATA MOTORS BECOMES FIRST COMPANY IN INDIA TO LAUNCH CV WITH ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL

Tata Motors has announce that it will be equipping it medium and heavy commercial vehicles with Electronic Stability Control with an obective of making Indian roads safer. In addition to this, it also offers Automatic Traction Control and Hill Start Aid safety technology for the range of trucks and buses

Automatic Traction Control(ATC) is a typically secondary system of Electronic Stability Control. ATC is activated when throttle input and engine torque are mismatched to road surface conditions.

Hill Start Aid is also a part of the ESC system. HSA system prevents the car from rolling away when trying to pull away on an up or down gradient. This system engages automatically when a gradient of 3% or more is detected, then this hold the vehicle for the two seconds after the brake is released giving time to apply thottle.

Electric Stability Control is a computer based technology that improves vehicle's stability by reducing loss of traction(skidding). When ESC detects loss of skidding, then it automatically applies the brakes which helps to control the vehcile. Some ESC also reduces the power which is generated by the engine.

The ESC functionality is added on Anti-Lock Braking System which was introduced by the Indian Government as per CENTRAL MOTORS Vehicle rules. This system is used in all vehicles more than 12 tonne GVW. While ABS contributes significantly to the safety of vehicles under different road conditions, ESC takes it to next step, thereby preventing the probability of accidents.

Functionally ESC automatically intervenes by applying brakes avoid rollover and skidding. It measures the vehicle's lateral acceleration, roll about its vertical axis through sensors, and applies brake on selective wheels to control instability.

With this technology, Tata Motors has become first to use ESC to its CVs. ESC smart will be available on Prima - Tractors 4925 and Trucks Models 2523T, 3123T and 3723T and LPS 4923 as well as LPT of 25T, 31T and 37T.
